Soap & Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash Review

I received a sample of the Soap & Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash in one of my beauty boxes and tested it out today.

Soap & GlorySoap & Glory is a UK based drug store brand that I’ve seen in Target, CVS and Ulta. They started in 2006 and their branding is cute. It’s got a retro feel.

The only other Soap & Glory product I’ve tried was the Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Lip Gloss and I did like it.

What’s to love? What’s Meh.

The Soap & Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash has natural Superfruit Yuzu and little pink Ultra-Soft Scrub-Beads to cleanse. I was a bit worried because they use micro-beads (which are bad for the environment) but the good news is that in my research I found that Soap & Glory stopped using plastic micro-beads in 2014.

The cleansing gel is greenish and has a fresh scent, but to me it smells a bit like the Irish Spring soap which I’m not a fan of.

I also didn’t get a lot of lather from the gel. It had light bubble action and while my face felt clean afterwards I found that it took awhile to wash off.

Overall I don’t think this is a bad product. It gets lots of good reviews but it’s not something I would purchase again.

Full-Sized Price: $12

Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel Review

I am so excited about the new Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel. I actually picked this up for my husband but now I want one. My husband has combination skin that’s on the oily side and he’s been using bar soap which drys his skin so I convinced him to try this new charcoal cleanser and he loves it.

What’s to love?

I tried this out first and all I can say is..wow! My skin instantly looked better after just one wash. The formula is a black gel that turns white and bubbly when you rub into your hands or on a wash cloth or you can buy the Clinique Sonic System City Block Purifying Cleansing Brush Head for $26, I may just pick this up. The product has no scent.

After I rinsed my face it just felt clean and really, really soft. It also removed my make-up and I swear my pores looked a bit smaller. For someone like me with an oily face this product is amazing. Now I want the Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask.

The funny thing is Clinique actually has a Clinique For Men Charcoal Face Wash and I wonder if this is the same thing. My guess is that it is, they just market one for men and one for women.

The 5 fl. oz. tube costs $20 which I found to be very reasonable for the quality of the product.

Lush Aqua Marina Cleanser Review

Oh Aqua Marina! I wanted to love you so much but my nose says otherwise. Not sure I can get onboard with this one, but it made my skin feel amazing. Such a conundrum!

I got the Lush Aqua Marina Cleanser as part of a Lush haul earlier this week and I wanted to love it. The reviews are amazing so I was excited to get it in the mail. Upon opening I was intrigued but my nose told me no. The pinkish clay cleanser is wrapped in a beautiful green piece of seaweed that you can mix up so that you get bits of the seaweed when you wash with it.

I mixed it up but still could not get over the smell. To me it’s pungent (not bad, at all) just a really, really strong scent. I’d say it smells like earth or clay, roses and the ocean. But it’s STRONG!

However in an ironic twist of fate this cleanser made my face look great. The smell is a little less strong once you mix will water but even after I rinsed it I can still smell it lingering a bit.

So as much as I do like the result I think I’m passing this one on to a friend who doesn’t mind the scent as much.

I am glad I tried it though. I am a fanatical Lush fan that knows not every single product will be for me. So my advice is that if you want to try Lush get samples (they give them at the store) and figure out what works for you.
