NYX Gotcha Covered Waterproof Concealer Review

I received a full-sized tube of the NYX Gotcha Covered Waterproof Concealer in my June Target Box and I think it’s a quality product for a low price.

What’s to love?

I really like the NYX brand and the Gotcha Covered Waterproof Concealer does not disappoint. It comes in 20 shades and retails for $6. The shade I have is Medium GCC04.

I have to say that the formula consistency reminds me of the It Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer in that it’s thick and covers anything! Gotcha Covered is infused with coconut oil and is super blendable so even though it goes on thick it blends out nicely. However being that it’s so thick I can’t use it on my entire face, I prefer BB or CC creams for that. I like Gotcha Covered for dark circle and blemish coverage.

It is very waterproof too, but easy to remove with make-up remover. For $6 I think this is an excellent prodcut and it’s going right in my make-up bag.

I was also excited to get this product in my Target Box which only cost $7 total and I got a whole bunch of other great things in the box.

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ Review

The It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ is the next product I won from the  It Girl Superheroes Program. I’ve been using this now for over a week and despite my love/hate relationship with foundation I have to say that I love this one now.

cc.jpg

What’s to love?

I actually had a bad experience the first time I used the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream. I had a sample of the fair shade and I used WAY to much and ended up looking like a clown, the sample was Medium and it was to dark for me.  This time I got the Light shade and learned how to use it properly.

The full-sized product has a great pump and I just use a very tiny drop on my finger to apply. Once that drop is worked in a get a second drop. My whole face only takes 4-5 drops.

cc2.jpg

The key for me is blending! The photo on the left is just a drop rubbed on. The photo on the right is with proper blended. As you can see the right looks much better!

First let me say that back in the 80’s we had so few choices in terms of good foundation so a lot of people over 40 (like me) have a hard time adjusting to these amazing new formulas that actually blend with your skin. Most of the 80’s foundations wore like stage make-up.

Once I figured out how to apply the  Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream I was really starting to see that “flawless” look people are talking about. Now I’m completely addicted to this product. I really do feel like it is an anti-aging serum as my skin is looking better the more I use it. It is infused with an advanced anti-aging serum made of hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and vitamins A, B, C and E.

The scent of the cream is so appealing to me too. It’s a light citrus and smells really fresh and pretty. I also love that is has SPF 50+ because I am terrible at remembering to apply sunscreen once I’m out.

So overall I’m pretty addicted now! I also pair it up with the Bye Bye Pores and Bye Bye Under Eye for a completely amazing look.

It Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer Review

I won a prize pack from the It Girl Superheroes Program which included the It Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof Concealer.

bb.jpg

What’s to love?

I’ve never used a waterproof under eye concealer so I was excited to try this one out. I have the Medium shade.

According to the site it is Infused with high-performance pigments and anti-aging peptides, vitamins, hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants, the game-changing formula improves the appearance of wrinkles and effectively conceals the look of skin imperfections including dark circles, bags, redness, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, age spots and discoloration.

The product is pretty thick and a little goes a long way. I just rub a little bit under my eye and blend really well. They key for me is to keep blending. I have found when this product is still wet it looks a little heavy however once it dries it looks amazing on me. It completely covers my dark circles and uneven skin tones.

I did not have any creasing or flaking and this product blends perfectly with my other It products. It is also waterproof which for me means that it does not run or get melty in the heat.

Overall I am impressed and would get another one.

Now through 4/28 It Cosmetics is have a Friends & Family sale where you get 25% off your order and free shipping with a 30+ purchase. I just picked up the new Confidence in Your Glow palette!

Fill Your Beauty Bag For Under $50!

I wanted to see if I could fill a beauty bag for under $50 with everything I’d need for a complete look and I think I did pretty good! I used the prices from Ulta except for the ColourPop Lippie Stix and SinfulColors.

I wanted a bag that I could use for both a full face make-over and touch-ups. The concealers was a must-have for my dark circles and oily skin and I decided to included two shades of lip color for variety. I also like carrying nail polish just in case I want to do my nails on the go.

I’m pretty excited that I found 8 quality products for my bag! What would YOU include for under $50. Feel free to try this experiment.

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Powder Review

Being over 40 I have a love/hate relationship with powder and I’m always trying out new ones. Today I tested out the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Powder in Translucent.

fm

What’s to love?

The packaging of the Fit Me! is really useful. The square compact is easy to open and contains a flip-up mirror and foam applicator under the product which I really like.

The product itself is a super light matte powder that matched my skin perfectly. As you can see in the third photo you can barely see it on my skin.

I applied the powder to my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. I thought it worked great on my cheeks and nose. It also absorbed the oil on my chin and forehead, I think this would be great for touch-ups too. The key for me it to make sure it’s completely blended or it looks a little heavy (which most powder does).

I think it works best on me when I blend it with a little blush and I like that it’s buildable. I also blended it with my concealer for a great look.

Overall I think this is an excellent product. The product did last me all day and I will definitely keep this one in my collection. It’s Made in the USA and reasonably priced.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment for Dark Circles Review

Happy December! I can’t believe there’s only 24 more days until Christmas. I hope to show off some great holiday finds this month but first let’s cover those dark circles!

When you’re over 40 covering dark circles is a must and being that I have fair skin I often look like part of the cast of The Walking Dead without a good under eye concealer. I just found the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment for Dark Circles and I’m in love with this formula!

m.jpg

What’s to love?

First, I am such a package geek and the Instant Age Eraser looks like something out of Star Wars. There is a clear hard plastic tube that holds the concealer and a half-round puff at the top to apply.

m4.jpg

Now I have to say that it took me a few minutes to figure this out. You need to twist the red band (it will click) to get the product flowing out of the top.

I picked the Fair (110) shade and it matches my skin perfectly. I just used the stick like a marker under my eyes and blended a bit with my finger for the perfect coverage. I was thrilled with the results.

m6.jpg

According to Maybelline the product is “infused with goji berry and collagen to tighten and improve skin elasticity.” and I have to say that my skin did feel tighter after application.

The product has very little scent and feels like a high-end brand to me. It’s Made In Canada.

I got my stick for $6.79 at Target which is a great price. My only concern with this product is that you probably have to replace it every month or so because of the fluffy tip which is fine because it’s not very expensive. Maybelline does state that it’s got an anti-microbial system to which is good.

Overall I am very happy with this stick and would purchase it again.

Physicians Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick in Soft Yellow Review

Physicians Formula is my go-to drug store brand for quality hypo-allergenic products and the Gentle Cover Concealer Stick in Soft Yellow in one of my favorite lower cost sticks.

pf.jpg

What’s to love?

I like using this stick to cover my dark circles when I’m just running to the grocery store or a casual event. At $6.55 it’s a great deal and works really well. I got this one at Ulta using $3 in reward money so it was even less!

The yellow stick is unscented and feels super smooth on application. It blends well with no creasing and has amazing staying power on my skin. It also works great on concealer my brown age spot on the side of my face. I’ve blended this with other concealers too for a custom color. It’s also buildable, I’ve used powder over this product.

It is Made in the USA and Non-Comedogenic which means that’s it’s formulated not to block pores and I find that to be true.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid Review

I got two of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid colors with my Sephora points and I’m pretty impressed.

ud

A ton of companies are coming out with the Color Correcting Fluid and it’s fun to play with. The idea is that the colors corrects and conceals flaws, here’s the color chart.

Green – Covers redness.

Lavender – Brightens sallow skin and corrects yellow skin.

Peach – Covers blueness and dark eyes.

Pink – Helps with dullness and masks signs of fatigue.

Yellow – Covers purple and under eye dark circles.

What’s to love?

I tried out the Urban Decay Naked Peach and Green shades which cost $28 in the full-sized tube. I found both colors to be very thick with excellent coverage. They are actually so thick that you really need to blend to achieve your affect which is good.

I have a little bit of redness on my checks and was able to conceal it well with the Green shade. However I did feel like I needed some foundation over the concealer. Perhaps I’m not red enough!

The Peach color did an excellent job on my dark eyes and it worked really, really well because I do have bluish fair skin. I want to pick up the full-sized of the Peach color.

Overall I love these Naked color concealers, Urban Decay makes a super high-end product that I feel is worth the price. As I get older I need to even out my skin tone before I apply make-up. I think for anyone over 40 all 5 color concealers are a must-have.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer Review

Today I picked up a full-sized Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in 01-Light which I’ve used in gift pack sets. This is hands down my favorite concealer.

b.jpg

What’s to love?

Boi-ing is one of my favorite concealers because it covers up just about anything on my face from dark circles to age spots. I use Boi-ing under my foundation to give me an extra layer of coverage. I also dab a little my eye lids as an eyeshadow primer to remover darkness. I never get any creasing or creepy skin from this product.

I love the creamy consistency too, it’s not to thick or thin for my face. I am 46-years-old with combination skin. For me it definitely is an industrial strength concealer!

You get 3.0 g of product for $20 which will probably last me for 6 months. My only issue is with the screw-off top. I would prefer a flip-top for easier access. I keep dropping the top after I unscrew it.

Overall however this is one of my Top 5 must-have make-up products.
