Alba Botanica Hawaiian Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner Review

My mom picked up the Alba Botanica Hawaiian Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner because she loved the smell and now we’re both loving these products!

IMG_3017.jpg

What’s to love?

First up, I love that Alba is gluten free and has no parabens or phthalates. I really love the giving culture of Alba too.

The Hawaiian Coconut Milk Shampoo smells amazing and is sulfate free. The lather is not huge with this shampoo but it does clean my hair very nicely and moisturizes with Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and coconut

The Hawaiian Coconut Milk Conditioner is super thick and a little goes a long way. It Sunflower Seed Oil, Moluccana Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil and Papaya Fruit Extract to name a few ingredients. It is so easy to get a comb through my hair after using this conditioner and it leaves my hair soft and shiny.

Overall I am super impressed with both of these products!

Lush Veganese Conditioner Review

The Lush Veganese Conditioner is supposed to be for fine hair but I like it a lot on my thick curly hair as well!

IMG_1502.JPG

What’s to love?

Veganese is a light Vegan conditioner with “a mineral-rich agar agar gel base to soften hair and a herbal rosemary and lavender infusion for a healthy scalp” and it has a lemon juice for shine.

The scent is unique and earthy. It does not smell lemony but more earthy and like seaweed but I do like the scent. The formula is very thin and works into my hair very well and does not weight it down at all. I’ll have to say that it does also make my hair very shiny too! I am really liking this conditioner.

Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Conditioner Review

When my hair needs a good deep conditioning I usually turn to Aveda. They are one of my favorite hair care products along with Lush. The Dry Remedy Moisturizing Conditioner does a great job taming my locks and it smells so good.

What’s to love?

Dry Remedy has the classic Aveda Pure-Fume scent with with certified organic lavender, bergamot, ginger lily and other pure flower and plant essences.

I have thick wavy hair and the dry remedy gives my hair a nice smooth finish and tames my frizz a bit which is great for Summer. This formula applies like a cream but does not weigh my hair down either which I love. I usually leave it on for about 5 minutes.

And as an additional plus Aveda is having a 20% off + free shipping sale today if you use the code LOVE which is pretty cool.

Bumble & bumble Seaweed Conditioner Review

I have to say my new favorite hair brand is Bumble & bumble. I picked up the Seaweed Conditioner this week and I love it!

bb

What’s to love?

The Bumble and bumble Seaweed Conditioner is very light and is a thinner consistency than a lot of conditioners I’ve used however that does not mean it’s ineffective.

After shampooing with the Lush Big Shampoo I applied about a quarter sized drop to my chin length hair. It was easy to work into my thick hair and the smell is amazing. It’s a fresh lime scent with a sea salt undertone. It’s so fresh and pretty. It also did a nice job of detangling my hair.

It was also very easy to rinse out and after a few uses I noticed that my hair has been super shiny and manageable. It does a great job on my frizz and I feel like every time I use it my hair looks better.

Overall I love it! This is going to be my new Summer conditioner and I’d like to try a few more products from Bumble and bumble.

Ingredients include: Ascophyllum Nudosum Extract, Macrocystis Pyrifera (Sea Kelp) Extract and Spirulina Maxima Extract

Price: $25

The Bunble and bumble Seaweed Conditioner is part of my May Beauty Favorites!

Aveda Rosemary Mint Review

I have been a fan of the Aveda Rosemary Mint collection for years so I was thrilled when my husband got me the Rosemary Mint Shampoo, Conditioner and Hand & Body Wash for my birthday last month.

rmm

What’s to love?

The Aveda Rosemary Mint is one of my comfort scents. I am a huge fan of mint and this scent is a strong one. It’s a combination of “certified organic rosemary and peppermint with other pure flower and plant essences” and it reminds me of Christmas.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo – I use the shampoo when I feel like my hair needs a deep cleaning. This one makes my scalp tingle in a really good way and the smell from the lather is so strong and amazing. It really does wake me up as they say on the Aveda website.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Conditioner  The conditioner is equally strong in mint smell and it does a great job detangling my hair. I use this shampoo a few times a month for shine too.

Aveda Rosemary Mint Hand and Body Wash – This body wash is so fresh and minty and really does a good job of waking me up too. I love using it in the morning for aroma therapy, the mint smell is so refreshing. It’s got a nice lather and rinses clean too.

I also really want the new Aveda Rosemary Mint Body Polish. I’ve heard really good things about this gentle exfoliator.

The Aveda line is Made in the USA.

Nature’s Gate Awapuhi Ginger and Holy Basil Shampoo & Condition Review

Last week when I was at the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market I picked up the Nature’s Gate Awapuhi Ginger Holy Basil Shampoo & Conditioner because it was buy 1, get 1 free.

ng.jpg

What’s to love?

While my go-to shampoo are the Lush Shampoo Bars I like to mix it up once in awhile and I’m always on the look out products I’ve never tried.

The Nature’s Gate Awapuhi Ginger and Holy Basil Shampoo & Conditioner  is Vegan, Non-GMO, Paraben Free, Gluten Free,  Soy Free and Cruelty Free. However the thing that really drew me in was the scent, it’s smells like Hawaii. Years ago I used the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoo and really loved it.

Along with the Awapuhi Ginger it’s also got Holy Basil and Wild Cherry Bark which make for a great fragrance.

This shampoo and conditioner is a volumizing variety and it really did give my hair some lift. This isn’t something I’d use all the time because I have thick hair and too much volume really makes my hair wild. The conditioner did make my hair super easy to comb through.

Overall I’m impressed with this shampoo/conditioner combo and I’ll probably be using it  a few times per month.

Nature’s Gate also has Tea Tree + Sea Buckthorn, Aloe Vera + Macadamia Oil, Jasmine + Kombucha, Pomegranate + Sunflower, Lavender + Peony, Jojoba + Sacred Lotus, Hemp + Argan Oil, Fruit Blend Grapefruit & Wild Ginger, Herbal Blend Lemongrass & Clary Sage and a few other combos of shampoo and conditioner.

Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Shampoo and Conditioner Review

I have a ton of these Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Shampoo and Conditioner samples so I wanted to try them out. This set is from my August Allure Beauty Box. I do love that Garnier has been so generous will handing these out. I love trying a new product before I commit to buying.

What’s to love?

First I have to say that I’m a fan of the Garnier Fructis products and before I found the Lush Shampoo Bars I used it quite a bit. I do like to use regular shampoo occasionally to mix things up and I’m impressed with the Whole Bends Honey Treasures.

The product contains royal jelly, honey and propolis which makes for a very creamy nourishing formula. The white pearlized shampoo could almost be mistaken for conditioner it’s so creamy. The shampoo is not a high-lather product but feels silky and rinses clean. The conditioner is super creamy and more on the heavy side.

Both have a honey/caramel scent that has a touch of a purfumey smell. Meaning that it’s not super earthy but I liked it. It feels more like a salon product for a much better price.

I can see myself using Honey Treasures after I color my hair or when it feels more dried out as it is super conditioning. I will probably pick up the full-sized products soon.

Burt’s Bees 2 in 1 Tearless Shampoo & Conditioner for Puppies Review

I’m reviewing something a bit different today because dogs need some beauty help too. The Burt’s Bees 2 in 1 Tearless Shampoo & Conditioner for Puppies is my favorite dog shampoo ever.

bb

What’s to love?

We have a 2-year-old Chiweenie named Coco and I’ve been using the Burt’s Bees shampoo on her since she was a puppy and I still use the same formula. This is the only dog shampoo that makes her smell great, gives her a shiny coat and is non-irritating.

I just use about a quarter sized drop and rub into Coco’s fur. It lathers really nicely and washes out clean. Burt’s Bees and an entire pet line if you want to try another formula too.

It’s got Buttermilk and Linseed Oil in the formula and has a very earthy natural scent. This product is Made in the USA to which I love.

Here’s Coco resting post bath in her bed!

Lush Big Solid Hair Conditioner Review

I’ve been using the Lush Big Solid Hair Conditioner bar now for about  a month now and I love it but that wasn’t the case on the first day.

What’s to love?

My first experience with a Lush hair condition bar was Jungle and it didn’t go well. So I tried again with the new Big Condition Bar and almost gave up because I was using it wrong.

The key to success is to put the bar on top of your head and rub down along the length of your hair. This works! Don’t rub the bar in circles, that will make a mess. You can also get some on your fingers and work into your hair. Just don’t rub in circles.

Seriously, once I used Big correctly the results were amazing. My hair is much more conditioned, soft and shiny. I also love the smell which is a unique blend of coconut oil, bladderwrack seaweed, vanilla, jasmine and lemon/lime. I love the scent of this one.

This is now one of my all time favorite conditioners and my daughter loves it too. It completely detangles our thick hair.

I also love that it lasts a long time. The bar in the photo is 3 weeks old and we use it every day.

Lush American Cream Conditioner Review

I’ve been using the Lush American Cream Hair Conditioner for about 3 weeks now and I decided I love it.

What’s to love?

I have to admit when I first tried this condition I wasn’t quite sold. The scent is amazing (a vanilla strawberry scent) but I didn’t like the way it felt on my hair. I tend to like smooth slippery conditioners that make your hair feel silky when wet. American Cream gives your hair more or a squeaky clean feeling when you rinse it out.

But…I continued to use it and noticed that my hair was getting shinier and had less built up. So now I am completely hooked on this conditioner. You only need a small amount to do the trick and my 3.3 oz bottle seems to last about a month.

So Yay! for American Cream.
