I was at Target today for bananas and toilet paper and almost squealed when I saw the kiosk of Target Beauty Boxes for April.
There were three choices including the Target Beauty Box Wakeup and Makeup, Target Beauty Box Treat Yourself, and the Target Beauty Box ALL THE MASKS a Each box costs $7.
I picked up the Wakeup and Makeup and Treat Yourself boxes.
You can also get the boxes online if they are still available.
I really loved the mWakeup and Makeup as I got 2 ELF products and the Covergirl Peacock Flare mascara.
I am really hoping these boxes are a regular thing at Target.
The Covergirl Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick is a gel liquid lipstick that has a nice fuzzy applicator. Melting Pout comes in 12 shades, I have the Evan-Gel-Ical shade which is a coral pink.
The lipstick itself is a sheer gel gloss with no scent and it does not tingle. I also got great coverage — it feels like a hybrid of a gloss and a sheer lipstick. It has nice staying power for a glossy type product, I got about 3 hours in before I needed to reapply.
Overall I would buy this product again, and would love to try Gelebrity which is more of a raisin shade.
Price: $6.89

Who would’t love a day dedicated to lipstick? I am a complete lipstick junky and I collect unusual lipstick cases and brands and I wanted to share 5 of my favorites for National Lipstick Day.
The packaging so so classy and useful on this one. The lipstick comes in a black tube with a neat trick! When you pull out the lipstick a mirror pops up which I love. The lipstick is a beautiful dark rich berry and one of my favorite shades.
The lipstick tube is so unique and pretty. The cap of the tube is wood and silver and feel like a quality piece. This lipstick itself is a brick shade that’s a creamy sheer/matte. According to Maison Jacynthe “The candelilla wax allows a gentle application without drying of the lips. The oil of abyssinia allows the enhancement of the color and the long duration.”
The Kailijumei Flower Jelly Lipstick in Flame Red has a plink colored flower and gold flecks encased in a clear jelly lipstick. The packaging is pretty with a metallic red case with a mirror. You pop up the lipstick by pressing on the bottom button of the case.
My 12-year-old self would have worn this lipstick day and night as I was an extreme Empire Strikes Back fan back in the 80’s. The No. 50 Dark Purple shade is amazing!
The Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil comes in 10 shades including Violet Flame which I have. Despite the OK reviews I am actually really loving this pencil.
What’s to love?
I love this pencil as a simple travel eyeshadow. I rarely travel with powder eyeshadow because they can break so I prefer the stick cream eyeshadows when I’m on the road.
I love that this is a thinner pencil and it’s super easy to apply. One swipe and I’m looking good. I have not been able to master the “flamed out” look but I really don’t need that!
The pigmentation is great and I really like this light violet shade that has a bit of shimmer and sparkle that stays in place. The only bad thing is that you need a sharpener, I much prefer the twist-up sticks.
I can’t believe I haven’t done a favorites post since November! I really enjoy sharing my favs with you all so I’m back in February! I also did a short YouTube video showcasing my 10 favs!
Here are my 10 February Favorites!
Clinique Liquid Facial Soap – I stole this one from my husband. I love this mild fresh cleanser for daily use. Price: $17
It Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Perfection – This palette is becoming a favorite for me. I love the Bye Bye Pores Pressed and Blush products so much. They do wonders for my large pores and my face looks so smooth. Price: $42
The new Covergirl TruNaked Jewels Eyeshadow Palette is a beautiful mix of bold colors and naked metallics. I am very impressed with this new product from Covergirl. You get a combination of matte, shimmer and sparkly.
What’s to love?
I really love the shades in the Covergirl TruNaked Jewels Eyeshadow Palette. I was looking for a bold purple shade and it was more cost effective to buy the palette than an individual shade.
All of the shades except Quartz (which is a matte) are shimmer or sparkly and they have a very strong pigmentation. I did find the matte Quartz shade to be a bit chalky.
From left to right the colors are: Pearl (sparkly), Quartz (matte), Sunstone (sparkly), Amethyst (shimmer), Sapphire(shimmer), Green Amber (sparkly), Gold (sparkly) and Onyx (shimmer).
I used my finger for the swatches and a tiny bit of product went a long way. The Amethyst, Sapphire and Onyx shades were the darkest for me and the Green Amber is such a unique color.
I also love that I have a few more shimmer nudes in my collection. I use those all the time.
I created a fun dramatic 80’s look with Amethyst and Pearl and I think it looks very pretty. I used the foam applicator that’s included in the palette and I think I’d have an even nicer look if I used a good blending brush.
I can see using this palette for day or night looks and it’s one of the most versatile drug store palettes I now own.
The product has zero scent which is nice because sometimes I’ll get a product with an odd chemical smell. This one has no odor. It’s Made in Canada too.
Overall I’m very impressed with this new Covergirl Palette. I hope they spin it off with some new color combinations. I’d love to see some silver shades.
Price: $9.98 from Wal-Mart
The Covergirl TruNaked palette is part of my February Favorites on YouTube!
I’m still on the search for the perfect matte lipstick so I decided to try out the CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick which is the Katy Perry branded line. I picked up the Coral Cat shade for Summer and I had mixed results.
What’s to love (and what’s a bit meh)?
This is definitely a demi-matte which for me is really more of a cream. While the finish leans a bit more towards matte I would say it looks and feels more creamy. I didn’t have any drying issues.
I think this is a nice drugstore pick although it is priced a bit high at $8.99 (unless you can find a sale). The lipstick itself feels on the harder side for me. It didn’t quite glide on like a high-end brand, however once I had the product entirely on my lips it looked nice. I had to use about 3 coats to get full coverage. The color did fade after eating and had to reapply about 2-3 times during the course of my day.
The lipstick does have a very faint perfume scent that I didn’t hate, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
The packaging is cute with a black and white case and a color-coded bottom with cat ears above the shade name. I picked the Coral Cat shade because I thought it would be pretty for Summer. I think the color is a beautiful bright coral that did make my lips pop.
Overall I’m not sure I’d get another one of these unless they were on sale. The Pink Paws shade looks very pretty.
L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir Mascara – Feline Noir has been my go-to mascara for January and you know me! I only use mascara for about a month and this one has done me well.
Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lip Color – I had mixed review on the all-day lip color because the red was a little too red for me however “custom coral” looks great and I love the clear moisture stick.
Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Scrub – Again with the lips! I am now officially addicted to lip scrub and have noticed a great improvement to the condition of my lip. I also love the mint flavor on this one so much.
So there you have it! 5 drug store beauty finds that I love. What are yours?
As you all know I’m a mascara junky and germaphobic so I get super excited when a new mascara arrives in my lap via a beauty box.
First up the Covergirl LashBlast Volume is Made in the USA and it’s now my favorite drugstore one coat mascara. There are some days when I don’t want to fool with my make-up, with the LashBlast I can quickly apply one coat of mascara to go out.
This mascara gives me pretty, bold lashes without being clumpy and even looks good without eyeshadow. It drys fast and does not flake on me either. It is hypo-allergenic and it did not bother my eyes.
I would definitely pick up another LashBlast for both quality and price.
