Essie High Class Affair Nail Polish Review

The Essie High Class Affair is another shade that I picked up on sale for $2.25 last week. It’s from the Spring 2016 line and Essie calls it a amorous blush nude.

What’s to love?

I am really loving the light Essie shades I picked up for Spring. I also got Going Guru which is light green last week when it was snowing but luckily the snow is gone now!

The High Class Affair shade is neutral with hints of pink, peach and coral and it looks really pretty on my nails. I love this color for Summer. It’s also easy to touch up so I get long wear from this one. I like Essie because it doesn’t chip very much. I do use two coats as one is a bit patchy for me.

Essie Going Guru Nail Polish Review

The Essie Going Guru nail polish shade is from the 2016 Resort collection but I think it’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and Spring! However it doesn’t look too Springy with all this snow.

What’s to love?

Going Guru is a beautiful mint green. It actually looks like the green in mint chocolate chip ice cream. It’s light and looks like it has a white base. I feel like this a great Spring shade and I got great coverage with two coats. One coat looks a bit patchy so you’ll probably need two coats for the best look.

Essie is one of my favorite higher end nail polish brands and I was lucky enough to scoop up some 2016 shades for $2.25 each this morning at the grocery store. Essie retails for $9 so I felt like I hit the jackpot with this discount.

Essie usually lasts me 3-5 days with touch-ups and stays fresh looking while I have it on. It a nice medium consistency that brushes on very smoothly too.

Essie Imported Bubbly Nail Polish Review

I was in the mood for a light pearly polish today so I chose the Essie Imported Bubbly shade and it’s just beautiful!

What’s to love?

Essie is one of my all time favorite luxury nail polish brands. It always gives me long wear and a flawless look. The formula also has a very even consistency that applies without being goopy or sticky.

I chose the Imported Bubbly shade because of the pearl sheen and beautiful golden beige finish. I think it looks really nice for everyday wear and the color cheers me up in the cold weather. I also love that it goes with any color clothing!

It is also DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free and Made in the USA. It it on the pricey side so I tend to pick up a bottle when I have a coupon. I got this bottle for free with my Kohl’s $10 birthday cash.

Price $9

Essie Winter 2016 Nail Polish in Oh Behave! Review

The Essie Winter 2016 line is just calling my name and today I picked up the second color that I’ve been coveting…Oh Behave!

e.jpg

What’s to love?

I haven’t been a huge fan of matte light pink nail polish in the past but this shimmer shade is just gorgeous. Oh Behave is the perfect pink holiday shade because it’s light and pretty plus it’s got this amazing gold shimmery iridescence to it, you can see this in the photo below.

I love this lighter shade for Thanksgiving week because I’m going to be super busy and I find light shades to much easier to touch up. I think this is going to be a fun party color for the week ahead. I used two coats which covered great. I have always been huge fan of Essie, the quality of this polish high and I should easily get a week out of this application.

I also love the name…it reminds me of Austin Powers. Oh Behave!

The colors in the Essie Winter 2016 Collection are:

Getting Groovy – metallic gold palladium

Go With the Flowy – cloudlike dove gray

Satin Sister – sleek ebony peacock blue

Oh Behave – minx peach frost

Party On A Platform – london garnet red

Ready To Boa – glistening bronzed mahogany

Essie Winter 2016 Nail Polish in Ready To Boa Review

I’m continuing my Fall frenzy with a selection from the Essie Winter 2016 Nail Polish collection. Ready To Boa is my Fall favorite shade so far.

The theme of the Essie Winter 2016 collection is “I’m into love, peace and getting groovy” which has a fun “swinging sixties London” feel. Kind of like Austin Powers maybe? They even have a shade called “Oh Behave”.

What’s to love?

I chose the Ready To Boa shade because I’m really into the bronzy, coppery metallics lately and this one looks great with my new Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Amulet.

The color of Ready to Boa is a beautiful multi-dimensional brown with shades of gold, red and bronze with the mix. It’s also got a great shimmer to it!

Essie is a super high quality brand too and this polish goes on very easily. I am wearing two coats but one coat gives great coverage too.

Fall 2016 Essie Playing Koi Review

Essie just released their Fall 2016 Japanese inspired shades and they are beautiful! The collection consists of:

Playing Koi – flirtatious orange rust (which is what I got)
Maki Me Happy – crimson-wrapped berry
Kimono-Over – inviting damson plum
Now and Zen – timeless sage gray
Udon Know Me – mysterious stony blue
Go Go Geisha – antique blossom pink

I have been looking for a pumpkin spice shade and this is exactly what I wanted!

What’s to love?

Essie is one of my favorite high end nail polishes and their new Fall 2016 collection caught my eye because of the Playing Koi shade which looks like pumpkin spice to me!

The dark burnt orange looks amazing in person and is super shiny without being shimmery. My nails look like glass. In the photo I have one coat but I think I am going to add a second coat and do my toes.

Essie nail polish is easy to apply and two coats seems to work for me. The trick is to apply evenly otherwise you can get uneven spots. I can usually get about 4-5 days out of the Essie polish. I would probably get more days if I didn’t use my nails as tools!

Essie Trio Review (great for a 5 minute manicure)

I have no time this week for a proper home manicure and my nails are a mess! Between swimming and sandals and digging for beach glass (my hobby) my fingers and toes look like something out of a horror movie. I’ve also been doing a “paint over” on my toes this Summer to save time so I had to remove 3 layers of polish which was so much fun!

Anyway a few weeks ago I picked up this cute Essie trio from Kohl’s and it was a perfect 5 minute fix for my nails.

essie.jpg

What’s to love?

First up I really love Essie as a brand, their colors and staying power is amazing. I also loved that I found a trio for $9.99 +30% off at Kohl’s. So I got 3 bottles for the price of one.

This set has Forever Yummy (red), Mademoiselle (light pink) and Second Shine Around which is a polish refresher.

I quickly applied the red on my toes and light pink on my fingers and I now look human again! Nothing fancy but it only took me 5 minutes and my feet look so much better in sandals.

On a side note it’s getting harder and harder to paint my own toenails as I’m getting older and I like to do them at home. Anyone else have this problem? Oh the joys of aging.

Essie Funships Nail Polish Review

My trip to Target yesterday not only netted me a cool concealer crayon but I also picked up some awesome Essie nail polish for Summer.

Funships (I love the name) is part of the 2016 Tropical Lights collection which includes the equally fine Classical Cliché in pale blue. Funships is my new favorite shade of the week for a couple of reasons.

  1. You’ll love the coral color. It’s a bit of orange, mixed with a bit of pink and to top it off there’s some silver shimmer in the mix. I used two coats on my fingers and toes but you could easily do with one coat as the coverage is great.
  2. It matches my Apple Watch coral sports band to perfection. We could not have planned this better Essie and yes that makes me a super geek. In fact I had two people today compliment me on my matching skills.
  3. I love the name. Funships is the embodiment of a day on the lake or a night on the ocean.

So get on the Essie Funships this Summer and cruise on a coral sea (ok, that was kind of goofy).
