MAC Strobe Cream Review

Believe it or not this is my first experience using a MAC product and I’m thrilled with the results. I received a MAC Strobe Cream sample in my May 2017 Birchbox and I am loving it!

What’s to love?

The Mac Strobe Cream comes in 4 shades: Pinklite, Peachlite, Redlite and Silverlite. I have the Silverlite. According to MAC the Strobe Cream is a “moisturizer that boosts the look of dull skin and luminizes with iridescent particles.”

I was very impressed with the results of the Strobe Cream. It gave my face a nice smooth bright look that was not shiny or greasy.  I felt like I was glowing which is nice when you’re over 40 like me. I also really liked the scent. It’s fresh and light.

I think I might just have to pick up a full-sized tube when my sample runs out and I want to try more MAC products!

Full-Sized Price: $33

GlamGlow GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer Review

I received a sample tube of the GlamGlow GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in my March 2017 Sephora Play Box. I’m always thrilled to get GlamGlow samples because it is so pricey.

What’s to love?

This is a newer product from GlamGlow that’s a “hydrating, super-charged cream with iridescent illuminating pearl particles to blur, reflect, and enhance your complexion for an instant luminous finish.” It comes in 3 shades including Pearl Glow, Nude Glow and Sun Glow. I have the Sun Glow.

First up I love the scent of this product. It smells like the Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer which is an orange Creamsicle scent.

The product itself is pretty thin, I’d say it’s thinner than the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter however it does apply evenly. It absorbed into my skin very quickly and I feel like it’s an amazing moisturizer. It does have “vitamins, botanicals, hyaluronic acid, and TEAOXI™ golden root technology that instantly floods skin with hydration“.

At first I wasn’t sure I liked this product but it’s really growing on me. I was expecting more shimmer but it really works as a skin moisturizer and brightener for me which I love. I cover my entire face before applying my make-up.

My only issue with GlamGlow is the price. It’s $49 for 1.7 oz/ 50 mL which is out of my price point for a product like this.

So while I do think this is a quality product it’s not something I’d buy right now.

Check out what else I got in my March 2017 Sephora Play Box!

NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Stick Review

Today I went to Ulta to get my free Laura Geller Baked Blush with purchase (review coming soon) and I picked up the new NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Stick and WOW am I so impressed!

What’s to love?

I want to start off by saying that I give this product a 10.5 out of 10…really.  It’s an amazing illuminator for a great price. They are $7.99 at Ulta although many colors are sold out.

This chubby stick comes in 12 stunning colors. Mine is Chardonnay Shimmer which is a beautiful beige/gold with a gorgeous shimmer that works so well as a cheek highlighter.

I had hard time swatching this color because it is so light and shimmery but I have to say it looks so pretty on my face. I have over 40 skin and it brightens with out creasing or making me look like a teen. It’s also super smooth and not greasy at all.

The stick is Made in Canada and has zero scent. If I was doing a blind test I would swear it’s a high end product. I am so impressed with it that I want a least 3 more colors.  Next up is Rose Petal Pop, Coralicious and Pearl Pink Lace.

NYX continues to impress me and this new product has blown me away.

Cover FX Illuminating Primer Review

I got this Cover FX Illuminating Primer using my Sephora points and I want the full-sized bottle. This illuminator is great for people over 40 like me.

What’s to love?

I think my favorite thing about the Cover FX Illuminator is that it’s light-weight. This smooth and feather-light formula glides over my skin and blends flawlessly. Being over 40 my skin needs all the brightness I can get and this one delivers.

This one does not have a lot of shimmer but that’s ok because I don’t always want shimmer every day. I love how easily my make-up goes on after application too.

The formula has Hylasome EG10 (not sure what that is) in it that’s supposed to hydrate skin which is great for me too.

AND last but not least it’s Made in the USA!

The full-sized price is $38 which is pricey but a tiny bit goes a long way and that’s about the average price for a high-end primer product.

NYC Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator Review

Now that my Summer tan is fading I’m looking for something to boost my pale skin a little and I found the NYC Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in my stash from the August 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag.

n1

What’s to love?

This light-weight Liquid Illuminator blends very well on my skin. I have the Gleam shade which gives me a nice all over Summer glow without being too overbearing. It’s got a bit of a peach color to it.

The swatch is pretty dark because I wanted to show the color out of the tube but once you blend it looks much lighter with just a hint of shimmer. This stuff really brightens my skin and I have no issue with irritation. I also feel like this product is more moisturizing than some illuminators.

The scent of this one is super light, not fragrance-free but very light and not unpleasant at all.

I would definitely buy this product for $7.50 and am interested in trying the Sunbeam shade which is a pale pink pearl.

My only issue is that I wish it was Made in the USA and not China.
