Vichy Mineral 89 Review

I received a full-sized bottle of the Vichy Mineral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Face Moisturizer in my Pink Diamond Glossybox and it’s a really neat product.

What’s to love?

Vichy Mineral 89 is clear gel that has 15 Minerals that are supposed to make skin look healthier. It has no Parabens, fragrance, oil, silicones, or alcohol.

I only needed a few tiny drops and I applied to my clean face. You can use your regular moisturizer with this product too. Mineral 89 does feel a bit sticky on my face until it dries then it’s pretty light and refreshing. It does moisturize very well.

The best benefit I have gotten from this product is the overall moisture that it gives my dry area. I have combination skin and I like that I can dab it on the dry areas of my face for extra moisturizing without having a heavy feel. I can wear this product during the day with no problems.

I also love the pump which dispenses the tiny amount that I use. I imagine this bottle with last a really long time.

Price: $29.50

MAC Strobe Cream Review

Believe it or not this is my first experience using a MAC product and I’m thrilled with the results. I received a MAC Strobe Cream sample in my May 2017 Birchbox and I am loving it!

mac.jpg

What’s to love?

The Mac Strobe Cream comes in 4 shades: Pinklite, Peachlite, Redlite and Silverlite. I have the Silverlite. According to MAC the Strobe Cream is a “moisturizer that boosts the look of dull skin and luminizes with iridescent particles.”

I was very impressed with the results of the Strobe Cream. It gave my face a nice smooth bright look that was not shiny or greasy.  I felt like I was glowing which is nice when you’re over 40 like me. I also really liked the scent. It’s fresh and light.

I think I might just have to pick up a full-sized tube when my sample runs out and I want to try more MAC products!

GlamGlow GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer Review

I received a sample tube of the GlamGlow GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in my March 2017 Sephora Play Box. I’m always thrilled to get GlamGlow samples because it is so pricey.

What’s to love?

This is a newer product from GlamGlow that’s a “hydrating, super-charged cream with iridescent illuminating pearl particles to blur, reflect, and enhance your complexion for an instant luminous finish.” It comes in 3 shades including Pearl Glow, Nude Glow and Sun Glow. I have the Sun Glow.

First up I love the scent of this product. It smells like the Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer which is an orange Creamsicle scent.

The product itself is pretty thin, I’d say it’s thinner than the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter however it does apply evenly. It absorbed into my skin very quickly and I feel like it’s an amazing moisturizer. It does have “vitamins, botanicals, hyaluronic acid, and TEAOXI™ golden root technology that instantly floods skin with hydration“.

At first I wasn’t sure I liked this product but it’s really growing on me. I was expecting more shimmer but it really works as a skin moisturizer and brightener for me which I love. I cover my entire face before applying my make-up.

My only issue with GlamGlow is the price. It’s $49 for 1.7 oz/ 50 mL which is out of my price point for a product like this.

So while I do think this is a quality product it’s not something I’d buy right now.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream Review

I tried out the new Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream thanks to a sample from Sephora. Pep-Start is a newer line of products in colorful packaging and they keep adding new products like the Clinique Pep-Start HydroRush Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 and the Clinique Pep-Start Daily UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 50.

What’s to love?

The white Pep-Start Eye Cream has a very, very light medicinal scent to me although it is listed as fragrance free but perhaps my nose it just being sensitive. My mom could not smell anything.

The texture is very light and non-greasy and it blended into my lower eye area very well. I did feel like my eyes looked brighter and it was moisturizing. It seems to plump everything up so my wrinkles were less noticeable. I feel like it’s a very good product that’s equal or better than eye creams in the same price range that I’ve used. Being that I’m a huge fan of the Clinique line I’d buy the full-sized tube because I love the brand and almost always have good results with their products. I do love getting the sample size first so that I can try it out before making a bigger purchase.

Now I do have the sample tube but I have read that people were having trouble with the full-sized product sending out too much cream. I personally am more of a jar girl (I feel like I have more control) and I can never get all of the product out of a tube without cutting it open but if a product works I’m fine with the tube!

Overall I think this is a great product from Clinique.

Pond’s Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream Review

Pond’s reminds me of the 1970’s when we called face cream “cold cream” and no one was really sure what it was. My Aunt and mom just slathered it on their face at night.

I do love that Pond’s has been around for 150 years and I was pretty excited to get a sample of the Pond’s Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream in my Walmart Box to test out.

What’s to love?

The Pond’s formula comes in an easy to open jar and is a thick white cream. It does have a pretty powerful rose scent that I’m not crazy about but if you love roses it’s probably fine.

This Made in the USA (Yay!) product uses Alpha Hydroxy Acids and according to Pond’s is is Dermatologist tested, Hypoallergenic and won’t clog pores.

I found this product to be surprisingly smooth and non-greasy. I have oily skin and this cream didn’t create any excess oil which was nice. I did notice that it reduced my fine lines a bit and for the price I’m happy to use up this sample on Winter skin. I’m not sure I would buy it again because roses are not my favorite but I think it’s a nice drug store choice.

Caudalie Vinosource Creme Sorbet Review

This is my first experience with Caudalie and for some reason I thought that the Caudalie Vinosource Creme Sorbet was a floral scent but it’s not, it has a delicious grape scent and it’s very nice. I got this sample from Sephora.

c

What’s to love?

The Caudalie Vinosource Creme Sorbet is a Cream-Mask that uses Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Water and it does have a nice very light grape scent.

Oddly for me it worked better on my hands than my face. The light weight lotion immediately absorbed into the back of my hand and dried quickly. It almost melts into your skin. Afterwards my hand felt extremely soft. While it is a face cream I would use this product on my hands.

I think my skin is a bit oily to use on my face although it says it’s for all skin types. I didn’t have any irritation and I love that it’s formulate for “hypersensitive” skin.

I think this is a great product and I’m going to pass it on to my mom who has sensitive skin. It’s also supposed to reduce redness which my mom has.

GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer Review

Earlier this week I received a deluxe sample of the GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer from Sephora and being a huge fan of the GlamGlow line I was very excited to try out their new moisturizer.

gg.jpg

What’s to love?

The GlamGlow Volcasmic Matte Moisturizer is not cheap at $54 for 1.7 oz/ 50 mL however after using it I’m thinking I’d like a full-sized jar.

When I opened the jar the product was completely different from what I expected. When you first put your finger on top it feels spongey, this is not a liquified or wet moisturizer. You need to press you finger in a little to get it out of the jar, it almost feels like a soft lip balm. It actually felt a little greasy on my finger too but when I applied it to my face it blends and absorbs into a matte finish which is really beautiful.

I used the GlamGlow Brightening Treatment (orange jar) first which does leave my face a little red. Then I applied the Volcasmic Matte Moisturizer. As you can see in the photo I don’t look greasy at all, although this pic isn’t the greatest…46 and no make-up is a little scary : )

The good news it that it hydrated my skin, smoothed my wrinkles and left my face feeling amazing. I am super impressed with this product and it smells like an orange Creamsicle which is so nice.

Their claim is that it “hydrates without adding shine” and I have to say that was the case with me and I do have oily skin. I have such a hard time finding a moisturizer that works without being too slick and I think I’ve found one in Volcasmic.

I’m going to use up the rest of the sample and then I might just splurge on this. My birthday is next week so that might be a good excuse to get it!

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer Review

I am a huge fan of Origins and the GinZing line is a favorite of mine.

What’s to love!

The GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer is one of the favorites in my moisturizing collection. I use it when my skin is feeling dry and worn out. The smell is amazing. I could actually carry this product around and just sniff it all day. It has a light orange scent with a touch of “earthy”. It reminds me of Summer!

GinZin can be used for any skin type. I have a very oily T-zone with flakey areas on my forehead and this product tames both. I also use it on my hands when they are feeling dry.

The oil free formula contains Panax Ginseng and Coffee Bean (two of my favorites).

Beauty Reviews, Lush

Lush Celestial Moisturizer Review

First let me say that even though I am 46 I’m not a huge fan of moisturizers. Prior to Lush Celestial I had never found one I loved, now I’m hooked!

Why I love Celestial.

I have an odd skin type for 46. My face is fairly oily but I also get some rough dry spots on the sides of my face so most traditional anti-aging creams do nothing for me. I do like a few products from the Origins line but I was looking for something new.

Celestial appealed to me because it’s got almond oil and almond milk and Lush says that it doubles as a “fantastically softening night cream for all skin types.”. That’s what hooked me. I really wanted something for night time that didn’t feel harsh for chemically.

What I love about Celestial is that you only need a dab (and I mean a small dab) to cover your face in the evening. To me the cream feels light and fluffy and goes on smooth with a very light fragrance. By morning my face feels moisturized and fresh. Celestial also works great for sunburns.

This one is definitely on my “repeat” list as a go-to moisturizer. Although I do want to try Skin Drink too.
