Happy Friday! I thought I would have a little fun tonight so I came up with 21 quirky questions about beauty and pop culture as I think the two are very much connected. It’s kind of a “get to know me” Q & A and anyone is welcome to copy my questions to play.

One – Favorite Decade?

Hand down the 80’s! I was a huge fan of Duran Duran, Adam Ant, Roxy Music and so many more. I  have a hard time getting on board with new music.

Two – Favorite Lipstick?

Right now it’s the It Cosmetics Blurred Lines in Believe which is a shimmery dark pink.

Three – Last Movie?

Eye in the Sky which is about drone warfare and the last movie that Alan Rickman made.

Four – Shampoo I’m Using Right Now?

Lush Big! It makes my hair so soft… and, well BIG!

Jelly shoes. OMG I had a pearl white pair that gave me the worst blisters ever.

Duran Duran in 1984. There was a complete blizzard that night but a friends kind father got us there on time. We had 10th row center seats and I swear Simon LeBon flung sweat my way.

Eight – Most “Meh” Beauty Product?

I still can’t get onboard with the matte liquid lipsticks.

OK I am totally late on this one. I think it started in 2013 but the questions are so much fun that I decided to do it anyway!

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?

I do! It was huge Bonne Bell Lip Smacker in Strawberry. I wore so much I looked like a smashed a strawberry on my face. Hey, I was 9!

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

Right now I am really into the Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara. It give me big beautiful lashes with zero clumping.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

I have a love/hate relationship with foundation. Being over forty it tends to look like pancake make-up if I pick the wrong shade or consistency. I love anything that’s ultra light weight.

4. Favorite high end brand?

Urban Decay

5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

I am fascinated by Jeffree Star’s line, especially the Skin Frost.

6. Favorite drugstore brand?

NYX

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?

NO!!! I’d look like caterpillars crawled on my eyes.

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

Lipstick. When I went into labour I yelled….Not before I put lipstick on!

9. What is your most cherised beauty product?

My Urban Decay Vice Lipstick collection.

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

Ha! More than I should. I always stop by the beauty department when I’m in Target or even the grocery store.

11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?

I try to stick with a budget.

12. Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

Absolutely! I have every rewards card and I always shop the sales.

13. What type of product do you buy the most of?

Uh…everything : )

14. Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?

Not really, I’m willing to try anything!

15. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

Yes and no. I’m not a fanatic but I am aware. I’m more conscious of where things are made. I love to see Made in the USA.

16. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

Sephora, they are so nice there.

17. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?

I LOVE trying new products.

18. Favorite bath and body brand?

Lush and Bath and Body Works are a tie!

19. If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

That’s like saying…choose one kid! Really? It can’t be done.

20. What brand do you think has the best packaging?

e.l.f. does an amazing job with packaging.

21. Which celebrity always has great makeup?

Ha! Can I say the cast of Harry Potter?

22. Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

I love Grav3yardgirl  and BeautyBy Anne-Marie (she’s over 40)…I should have more gurus!

24. Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?

Yes, I think I’ve tried a few of these.

25. Are you clumsy in putting makeup?

Oh yay!

26. Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

Yes! I just blogged about it today.

27. How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

Maybe one or two. Aveda is my thing.

28. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

Concealer! I’m over 4o.

29. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

I would!

30. What do you love about makeup?

I love how make-up makes me feel. You really can’t help smiling when you buy a new lipstick or blush or palette. It’s like an artist buying new paint! Make-up is a fairly inexpensive way to bring some joy to life!

SKINCARE

How many times do you wash your face daily? 2 or 3 times. Morning, sometimes mid-day and at night.

What skin type do you have (dry,oily,combo)? Combination skin but more on the oily side.

What is your current facial wash? Right now I am using the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Cleansing Gel.

Do you exfoliate? Yes.

What brand do you use? GlamGlow all the way! I love that stuff.

What moisturizer do you use? I like the Lush Celestial Moisturizer.

Do you have freckles? Not one.

Do you use eye cream? Yes. I like Clinique for eye cream.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin? Yes, I get  peri-menopausal acne.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ? No.

MAKE-UP

What foundation do you use? I like anything from Clinique, Urban Decay or Maybelline.

How about concealer? I love Benefit Boi-ing.

Do you know your undertone color? Yes.

What do you think of fake eyelashes? They look good on other people, but not on me.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months? Yes and I always do!

What brand of mascara do you use? I love Urban Decay Perversion, Clinique Chubby Lashes and Smashbox Full Exposure.

Sephora or MAC? Sephora.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card? No.

What makeup tools do you use in make up application? I love my brushed and sponges.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes? I  love the  Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

For the face? I love the Clinique No. 2 Toner. I’ve been using it since 1985.

What is your favourite eyeshadow (colour or shade)? Has to be any shade of purple.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner? I like pencils better than liquid.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil? Never.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows? I haven’t tried them yet.

Do you use mineral makeup? Sometimes.

What is your favorite lipstick? Urban Decay Vice.

How about lipgloss? I like NYX and Borghese.

What is your favorite blush to use? Laura Geller Baked and anything by Smashbox.

Do you buy your makeup on ebay? Not usually. Although I did once buy a Kailijumei Flower Jelly Lipstick to try.

Do you like drugstore makeup? Yes. It’s awesome!

Do you go to CCO’s? (cosmetic company outlets) No.

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes? No.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? Not really.

Name a makeup crime that you hate? Bad eyebrows!

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick,eyeshadow) or neutral ones? I like cool colors.

Which celebrity always has great make up? I always love what Grav3yard Girl is doing with make-up.

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item,what would you use? Lipstick.

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on? No. Once you’re over 40 you need make-up!

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on? That depends : )

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line? That is such a hard question but I’m going to say Urban Decay.

Eye Shadow Palette Q & A Time!

I thought I’d do a fun eye shadow palette Q & A including a fun question about your “Dream Palette”!

All-time Favorite eye shadow palette?

I can honestly say that the Tarte Swamp Family Palette is on the tippy top of my list. It smells amazing good (like vanilla) and I swear the colors were made for me.

Favorite shade of eye shadow palette?

Since I was a teen my favorite shade of eyeshadow has always been purple and that’s pretty much stuck my entire life. Maybe it’s because I have green eyes but I just think I look nice in purples. Also it’s a great 80’s shade!

Matte or Shimmer?

I tend to prefer shimmer over matte but I do love the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour QuadsKat Von D Shade + Light Contour Quads in matte.

High-end or Low-end?

This is an interesting question because there are so many great drug-store brands on the market. On the one hand you get more palettes for less money when you get drug-store brands…but the high-ends palettes are so luxurious and nice. I “think” I’d rather have fewer high-end palettes.

Eyeshadow Palette wishlist!

I’d love to get my hands on the Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette and I’d also like the Kat Von D MetalMatte Eyeshadow Palette.

What’s your dream palette?

I’d like an over-the-top officially licensed Harry Potter inspired palette with shades from the four Hogwarts Houses and some character inspired shades like Snape’s Dungeon in Black or Dumbledore’s Wizard Robes in shimmery silver.

Mascara Q & A Time!

I’m in the mood for a good Q & A tonight!

So let’s go. Mascara Q & A time.

How many tubes of mascara do you own? 

Only 12? Really? OK, this is because I am a hygiene fanatic and I throw my mascara out every 30-45 days. It’s hard but I do it.

Favorite Mascara?

This is like asking who your favorite child is. So hard to answer. Right now I am all over the Benefit Roller Lash and SmashBox Full Exposure.

How long have you been wearing mascara?

Holy Moly! 32 years. That’s a lot of lashes.

Favorite color of mascara?

Black. I’m not a fan of the shock colors like blue and pink. I didn’t even like them in the 80’s.

Favorite guy in mascara?

I’m going to go with Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. He still wears it well. I’m also a fan of the Adam Lambert look.

One coat or two or three?

I usually only apply one coat to my top and bottom lashes.

False or Not?

Not! I am not even close to being coordinated enough to apply false eyelashes and knowing my luck I’d loose one in my ice tea.

Waterproof?

I feel like that used to be a huge thing but I rarely even notice if a mascara is waterproof until I try to remove it.

Lipstick Q & A Time!

I rarely meet a lipstick I don’t like! I never leave the house without lipstick and I even applied some when I had my daughter. I literally feel naked without some color on my lips so I think it’s fair to say I’m a bit addicted. Here’s a fun lipstick Q & A I came up with. Feel free to use on your own blog.

How many tubes of lipstick do you own? Include lipgloss too.

35 (which means I clearly need more)!

Lipstick or Lipgloss?

I tend to choose lipstick over lipgloss and don’t like super sticky lipgloss at all.

What’s your favorite shade of lipstick?

My go-to shades are dark pink, raisin or a light coral.

What shade to you not like?

I’m not a fan of light pink or dark purple.

Matte or Gloss?

I haven’t gotten on the matte bandwagon yet. Probably because I’m an 80’s girl and we had lots of shine back then. I tend to like creams the best.

Favorite brand of lipstick?

Urban Decay Vice (I want every shade), Clinique Long Last and Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick.

Will you wear red lipstick?

Yes! With the right hair, clothes and make-up I think red lipstick looks amazing.

What’s your next lipstick purchase going to be?

I’d like to get the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lolita.
