My 5 Favorite SPF Products For Summer (so far!)

As Summer is starting to roll in I’ve got my SPF arsenal ready for the sun. So far I’ve been relying on to protect my face from those UV rays.

I’m starting to lean towards more organic sun protectors this year too.

spf

Coola Make-Up Setting Spray SPF 30 – This 70% certified organic spray feels very light weight on my face and works well with my make-up. I love having that extra protection in a spray. It’s also free of Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates.

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ – This has become my go-to, must-have skin product lately. It gives my skin a flawless finish and protects with SPF 50+. I also really love the citrus scent!

Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 – I’ve been using Tarteguard on my hands and arms as well as my face. It’s Tarte’s first non-chemical sunscreen with active ingredients of Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. It is free of Parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates and gluten.

Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 – I really want to pick up the full-sized bottle of this sunscreen which is 20% Zinc Oxide. It’s also Cruelty-Free and they even have a blacklist of ingredients not in their products.

Revlon Kiss Lip Balm In Juicy Peach – I am loving this SPF 20 lip balm. It comes in Tropical Coconut, Fresh Strawberry, Sweet Cherry, Crisp Apple and Berry Burst and Sweet Cherry is my favorite! It feels soft without being greasy or sticky and it tastes and smells so good.

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain Review

I’ve been looking for some new Summery products to add to my make-up bag and I really love the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain.

What’s to love?

The Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain comes in 8 shades. I have Rendezvous which is a beautiful Summery Orange shade.

bs3.jpg

The Blam Stain is a cross between a lip balm and a transparent sheer that’s gives medium moisture. It gives just a hint of color and lasts for about 4 hours. I do reapply after I eat. It does “satin’ your lips a bit so that’s why the color lasts.

I didn’t have any bleeding or feathering from this product. It also have a nice light mint scent and taste that I love. The packaging is pretty and it has a twist-up application methods.

Overall I really love this product and I want to get a pink shade for Summer too.

I also like the Revlon Matte Balm.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Review

The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick comes in 82 shades and has four finishes: crème, matte, pearl and sheer.

I just got the Iced Mocha – Pearl and the Carnival Spirt – Shine (this one was a limited-edition shade). I picked these up for $1 each which was a steal!

I always check the clearance bins in the drugstore for deals. It’s a great way to stock up on products without paying a huge price. These are mostly retired shades.

What’s to love?

I have always been a fan of the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick line. There are endless shades, new collections (right now they have Street Chic and Sheers) and the price is right (Target has a bunch of shades for $4.99).

The one thing that I love about the Super Lustrous Lipstick line is the shine and the moisture. These buildable shades look sheer and shiny alone or you can apply them over a matte for a little extra sheen.

They are not super long lasting shades but that’s OK, I alway carry one in my purse for reapplication.

I am super in love with the Iced Mocha shade that I just got, I love a good brown shade and this one is pearly too.

The Carnival Spirt shade is so glossy and translucent which would be great for the beach of pool.

Overall I love this line and always check it out when I’m looking for some shades to add to my lipstick collection….after all, you can’t have too many lipsticks…right?

Revlon Powder Blush in Haute Pink Review

I like stocking up on drug store brands for my make-up and travel bags and I found this Revlon Power Blush as part of my grocery store close out for just $1! The shade is Haute Pink which I am assuming is a retired shade as it’s not on the Ulta site but I love it!

What’s to love?

Aside from my amazing deal I really like the Revlon Powder Blush formula. It’s very light, I would not call this a super pigmented shade but it looks so pretty for a casual day look. The Haute Pink has a bit of a pearl sheen and it gives me a little Summer glow.

The formula has zero odor and very little dust, which I like. Overall I think this is a quality drug store blush.

The compact comes with a small mirror and an OK brush that works fine on the road.

Ingredients – Talc, Mica, Red Iron Oxide, Black Iron Oxide, Yellow Iron Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Stearate, Bixmuth Oxychloride.

Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Polish Review

I hit the pink jackpot at my local grocery store last week. They had a bunch of the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Polish for $1 each so I got:

  • Cardshark (light pink)
  • Bet On Love (shimmery pink)
  • Royal Flush ( dark hot pink)

The entire line has cute casino themed names like High Roller, Vegas, Baby and Hold ‘Em. You can also get a Diamond Top Coat for longer wear and a diamond like shine.

What’s to love?

This is my first experience with the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Polish and I am loving it!

The formula really does have a nice gel-like consistency and it was very easy to apply. I was also shocked that one coat gives full coverage and it dried very fast.

The finished look is a smooth glossy finish that has decent lasting power. I got about 4 days out of this one coat. I am wearing the Royal Flush shade and it is a base and color in one polish.

I feel like this is a low odor polish and it’s a breeze to remove.

Overall I’m thrilled with my pink polish haul and I can’t wait to wear the lighter shades this Summer.

Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art Review

The Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art duo is so pretty and comes in 10 shades including:

  • Green Glimmer (aqua)
  • Lilac Luster (purple)
  • Black Brilliance (black & white)
  • Cobalt Crystal (multi-shaded blue & white)
  • Peach Prism (peachy cooper)
  • Desert Dazzle (green)
  • Burnished Bling (gold)
  • Topaz Twinkle (light gold)
  • Steel Spark (grey/brown)
  • Midnight Glitz (dark blue & multi-shaded black)

I have the Peach Prism shade which is a nice peachy copper.

What’s to love?

This duel ended liquid can be used on lids, as a liner and even on lashes which I found to be difficult. One end of the formula is a creamy metallic that goes on super smooth and dries nicely. The other end is a glitter formula that is more patchy but I was able to use it over the cream when it dried.

The creamy metallic has a fuzzy doe foot for application while the glitter side uses a brush that can be used on lashes and as a liner.

Overall I did like this product. It’s pretty, fun and unique.

This is definitely a glittery look but I thought it would be fun for Halloween.

My 5 Minute Make-Up Challenge

Oh the trials of getting everyone out the door in the morning. If you’re a mom like me you know that that it’s hard to juggle lunch and homework and the dog and finding your husbands keys. Not to mention getting yourself dressed and ready.

Now that I’m over 40 I rarely leave the house without make-up on. Last year I even insisted on applying lipstick before my husband carted me off to the hospital ER with pneumonia.

So I decided to take the YouTube 5 Minute Make-Up Challenge and I think I did pretty good. I used just 7 products (you can see them listed below) and I actually feel like I can face the grocery store with a smile.

My 7 beauty saves.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment for Dark Circle – My dark circles look like I’ve spent too much time in the Hogwarts dungeons. Luckily the Age Rewind makes them disappear like magic? OK, bad joke.

It Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Perfection – The Bye Bye Pore Pressed and Blush in this palette evens out my skin and give me some rosy cheeks.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor – This is my new favorite lip stick. It glides on and make my lips shiny. It also smells pretty good too.

Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes in Lots O’Latte  – I love these Chubby Sticks when I’m pressed for time. They glide on and give great color.

The BrowGal Highlighter Pencil – The Brow Gal Highlighter Pencil wakes my eyes up in the morning. Wide awake? Yes!

Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara – Thin lashes no more with my Clinique mascara!

Revlon ColorStay Brow Crayon – This Revlon Brow Crayon gives me a little color on my brows.

So there you have it! 4 minutes and 45 seconds later I’m good to roll out the door looking pretty good.

Revlon Insta-Blush Review

When I was at Ulta yesterday I also picked up the new Revlon Insta-Blush stick. I have quite a few of these blush/highlighter sticks and I use them on a daily basis.

r

What’s to love?

To me these sticks are such a convenience and so easy to use. The Revlon Insta-Blush comes in 4 colors including Nude Kiss, Candy Kiss, Rose Gold Kiss and Berry Kiss which is the one I bought.

The stick is a matte finish that feels very dry and smooth, almost like a powder after I applied it which is interesting because after I tried it I did read that it’s a “cream-to-powder formula”, which I found to be true.

The pigmentation I’d say is medium, it gives what I’d call a more translucent finish which is what I want in a blush and it’s very blendable. I could also see using the Rose Gold Kiss shade as a highlighter.

The packaging is nice with a clear top and twist-up design and it has a light clay scent that does not bother me. It’s made in the USA.

Overall I am pretty impressed with this product. I love how dry it feels. I actually have a high-end blush stick that feels more greasy which I don’t like as much.
