Revlon ColorStay Brow Crayon Review

There are certainly staples that every beauty addict needs in their collection and for me it’s the Revlon ColorStay Brow Crayon. This simple and inexpensive brow crayon always perks up my face when my brows are looking thin.

What’s to love?

The Revlon ColorStay Brown Crayon comes in 4 shades. Blonde, Soft Brown, Dark Brown and Soft Black. I have the Soft Brown shade but I also want to get the Blonde one.

This product is really simple and adds color to my brows with just a very light swipe. I like to use this product if I’m on the go or for easy touch-ups. The crayon has a medium buttery  consistency and the application is smooth. I usually use my finger to rub it in a bit.

I feel like this brow crayon is super versatile too. It’s buildable, blendable and waterproof. Overall I love this product as a beauty staple and it’s a twist-up and lasts forever.

Tip! Don’t press too hard or you’re going to look like Grocho Marx. A little goes a long way.

It’s Made in the USA too.

I Just Turned 47 So I Decided To Do A Makeover (Before & After)

I just turned 47-years-old and it’s pretty scary to see all the changes my skin is going through. I have several problem areas including combination skin, large pores. dark eyes, uneven skin tones, hooded eyes and a some sagging. It’s actually quite interesting (and frightening) to take a selfie with zero make-up on, I debated putting this photo up but decided to be brave about it.

The bottom line is that we all age and just need a little help to regain a youthful appearance. I love make-up, it makes me feel good to experiment with new products and shades. There’s something very cathartic about buying a new lipstick or palette.

I believe that anyone can learn how to choose and apply make-up, it just takes a little practice and I learn new things everyday.

Screen Shot 2017-02-10 at 1.59.44 PM.png

Here’s a list of the products I used for my makeover:

Eye Primer – My eyes need a lot of help so I used a combination of Maybelline Dream Brightening Creamy ConcealerMaybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment for Dark Circles, and Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Eyes – I used the purple shades in the Grav3yard Girl Tarte Swamp Family Palette. I also used the Clinique Chubby Mascara in black. On my brows I used the Smashbox Eye Brow Ultra Tech Shaping Powder Mimics which is a neat product.

Face – I used the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter on my forehead, chin and cheeks first. Then I used the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed (I just got this) and the Bye Bye Pores Blush. I really love both of these products. I contoured with the It Cosmetics Sunshine In A Compact and highlighted with the Perfect Lighting Luminizer.

Lips – I can’t believe how pale my lips look bare. Geesh! This reminds me that I should never leave the house without lipstick on. I used the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor in Desert for todays look.

Revlon Matte Balm Review

I think I may have found the perfect matte color stick today! The Revlon Matte Balm comes in 10 beautiful shades and has great coverage.

What’s to love?

I got the Sultry shade which is a nice dark mauve/pink. This one is also comparable to the Clinique Chubby Stick and the Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick only it’s a matte finish and I felt like it had great moisture.

The stick goes on super smooth and it’s got the most delicious mint scent. I was so glad it wasn’t mango this time! So the scent is a huge win for me. The packing is nice with a thick tube and a twist up design.

I didn’t feel like the matte finish was as matte as a liquid lipstick. I don’t think you can get that true-on matte finish in a cream but this one comes darn close. The pigmentation is amazing with no streaking or thin areas which was good too.

It did not have terrific staying power for me as I had to reapply after I ate but that was fine with me. I don’t mind reapplying if I get good moisture. It also didn’t pass the kiss test on my glass.

Overall I liked it.  I would buy the Matte Balm in another shade. I thought my lips looked pretty and plump which is always a win and the price is nice at $8.99.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor Review

I headed out to Target today and picked up the new Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor which is so pretty! The tube is metallic.

What’s to love?

I am super excited about the new Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor. This is one of the most hydrating lipsticks I have used in a while.

Here’s my YouTube review too!

First up, the packaging is gorgeous. It’s a thin sleek tube with a metallic case that’s going to look awesome in my make-up bag. The actual product is oval and really easy to apply.

I got the HD Desert shade which is a light pink. The Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor comes in 15 colors that are all beautiful.

I found this product to be more of a translucent product that a full on opaque color. It’s pigmented but more of a gloss than a creme. I applied one coat and it covered very well and I think my lips look pump and shiny. I want to try a darker shade to see how much pigmentation I get. It is a bit slippery so I think a liner would work well to keep it in place.

The gel contains hyaluronic acid which helps with the hydration. My lips did feel amazing wearing this product although it does have a mango scent. I would prefer vanilla or mint.

Overall I am loving this new lipstick and the price is right at $7.99 (I also got 25% of with Cartwheel).

Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadow Review

I picked out the Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadow thinking it was a powder. I just liked the colors. The first photo is actually the bottom and then it opens up to reveal 4 creams and a mirror which is pretty cool. The case is nice.

I got the Black Magic palette. It also comes in Wild Orchids (purples), Not Just Nudes (beige tones), Precious Metals (a blue and 3 rose shades), Moonlit Jewels (4 jewel tones) and Skinlights (all neutral).

What’s to love?

Besides the neat compact and mirror the creme shadows are treat too. I’ve been wanting another white shade and I got two in this pack, one is a matte white and the other is a shimmery pearl. The pink and black shades also have a shimmer.

The colors are not super pigmented (they have a translucent look) but they do apply smoothly without creasing. I just applied them with my finger. They are great for a soft shimmery look and they did blend beautifully for me. I also think you could use the white shades as a highlighter.

The only thing I had to be careful of was smudging. The black didn’t work for me because I kept smearing it but I bought the palette for the white and pink. I would like to get the purple shades next.

5 Favorite Drug Store Finds For January

Here are 5 drug store products that I’ve been using pretty regularly in January from Revlon, Maybelline, L’Oreal Covergirl and ChapStick.

I love adding drug store products to my collection as they are a great deal and quality products.

Revlon Kiss Lip Balm In Juicy Peach – This lip balm has been living in my purse. I use it for mid-day moisture and the peachy smell cheers me up.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment for Dark Circles – I’ve been using the Age Rewind almost every day now and am still in love with it. This formula tackles my dark circles for the right price!

L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir Mascara – Feline Noir has been my go-to mascara for January and you know me! I only use mascara for about a month and this one has done me well.

Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lip Color  – I had mixed review on the all-day lip color because the red was a little too red for me however “custom coral” looks great and I love the clear moisture stick.

Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Scrub – Again with the lips! I am now officially addicted to lip scrub and have noticed a great improvement to the condition of my lip. I also love the mint flavor on this one so much.

So there you have it! 5 drug store beauty finds that I love. What are yours?

Revlon Kiss Lip Balm In Juicy Peach Review

Another cool product I got in my January Target Beauty Box is the Revlon Kiss Lip Balm In Juicy Peach. My daughter and I flipped a coin to see who got this and she won so I’m going to run out and buy the Sweet Cherry flavor tomorrow!

What’s to love?

This brand new lip balm from Revlon is coming out just in time for Spring. It’s got SPF of 20 and has natural fruit oils. The texture is so smooth too, it glided over my lips and left them feeling soft without being greasy or sticky.

This juicy lip balm packed a huge punch for my nose (in a good way) too! It is so fragrant it reminds me a bit of the Bonne Bell version I used as a kid. The one I got is Juicy Peach and it smells exactly like fresh peaches. You can also get Tropical Coconut, Fresh Strawberry, Sweet Cherry, Crisp Apple and Berry Burst.

I don’t think this is a tinted lip balm, just scented.  It gave my lips a very nice semi-matte shine but had no color.

I want to stock up on a few for Summer!
