Who has a lot of Bath & Body Works? *Sheepishly Raises Hand

Oh man, oh man, oh man! Since I decided to reformat my YouTube Channel to all demos (shameless plug — you can subscribe here) I decided to organize, declutter and reexamine my Bath & Body Works collection. Marie Kondo seriously needs to kick my ass.

Let’s just say I’m pretty much stocked up in the bath and the body department until about 2073 — of course I’ll turn 103 that year and might need all of those moisturizing products a bit more. Either that or they’ll invent a real working time turner in the next few years and I can just turn back time (now I’ve got Cher in my head) and use up all of this stuff! I wonder if Cher shops at Bath & Body Works. I bet she does.

What the what!!!!!!

So how on earth did I acquire over 300 Bath & Body Works product? Yes, 300! It’s actually easier than one might think. Most Bath & Body Works stores are located in the mall and they have really pretty eye catching displays to draw you in — AND the place smells amazing — AND I’m like a bird with a new shiny thing when it comes to Bath & Body Works.

Hypothetical story time — No, this isn’t me (yeah right)!

So there you are (coupons in hand) drooling like a loon over the latest fruity fragrance that you just can’t live without, then your mom says…oooo, this one smells good too and into the blue mesh bag it goes (and you often wonder if those blue mesh bags ever get washed), of course you really don’t care at this point. An ostrich could have popped in that blue mesh bag and you’d still use it! At this point you’re grabbing Ultra Shea Cream like it’s the last loaf of bread on the shelf in a hurricane. Then by the time you reach the back of the store (they always put the check-out in back) your blue mesh bag weighs like 600 pounds and you just know you’re going to need a chiropractic adjustment when this day is over but you hoist that bag up, fork over your cash and leave with a big dorky smile on your face.

So let’s just say my collection has bloomed and blossomed and over run my house like weeds over the years and I ended up cramming it into every crevice of my house, but I’m cured now, kind of, OK, not really. I’m still going to Bath & Body Works but I’m going to leave without over filling that blue mesh bag….yes, that’s the plan.

Of course it doesn’t help that they get new must-have products every single season and you can bet I’m there loading up on new scents. Tutti Dolce? Hot Cocoa & Cream? Cinnamon Pumpkin Spice? Admit it, every single one of you buys a new Cinnamon Pumpkin Spice every single year because of all that pretty packaging!!!! Well played Bath & Body Works, well played.

If you want to oooo and ahhhh and spy on my outrageous collection (you know you want to) check it out on YouTube and wish me luck! From now on I am ONLY getting a few things to demo on YouTube. No more huge collections. I swear on Marie Kondo’s tiny container collection. For real. Really. NO REALLY!

My YouTube story continues (I’m back part-time)

LOL…after only 7 days without a YouTube channel I’m beginning to miss it a bit. I don’t miss the filming, lights, editing, twice daily uploads and my house being a disaster so I decided to start over and scale back. I wasn’t making enough revenue that it matters that I lost my monetization. YouTube revenue is really, really low these days. So I started fresh and it feels good!

I do really, really love Bath & Body Works and Lush, plus Easter is coming up which means that I’m going to be wanting to do some sink demos of those gorgeous bath bombs. The sink demos were actually my favorite part of YouTube! So I’m back in a much more part-time role. I’ll have time to finish my laundry, relax, play with the dog in addition to my day job and not get burned out.

I’d like to thank everyone for their kind words and appreciate all the comments.

Just at a slower pace!

Why I Quit YouTube

In June of 2016 (on the heels of recovering from pneumonia) I started beauty blogging about my love for Lush, Tarte, Urban Decay, Bath & Body Works and all of my favorites and I loved it. I was writing (a lot) and it was fun.

About a year later I thought “Hey” why not start a YouTube channel and it was fun (at first). However, the problem with YouTube is that you always want more. More followers, more revenue, more engagement and that takes a lot of time and energy. I joined YouTube because I saw Grav3yard Girl using Lush shampoo bars and I also witnessed her subsequent fall. With YouTube you are at the mercy of the system and in recent years new (and old) creators haven’t faired very well.

In December of 2018 I decided to go all in and I created 2-3 videos per day to see if I could make some good revenue. My traffic went up, my followers went up and I was building a nice little community. The problem was that it was taking up WAY too much time, energy AND money (which I wasn’t getting back from YouTube). The dirty secret of vlogging is that you have to buy everything you review unless you’re lucky enough to get on a PR list which takes time and more money. I was also becoming an unintentional hoarder!

It took watching “Tidying Up” to realize that my beauty collection was getting way too big and adding more felt not only wasteful but a bit mental! Having over 100 Bath & Body Works products is enough : ) I love my collection but if I kept up in 2019 my collection would quadruple.

So I said good-bye to YouTube with a full on stop. Yes, I could have scaled back but it’s also a pain to film with lighting and editing so I just decided to end the channel. I hope my viewers understand. It was a hard decision but the right one. I’m now more relaxed and can focus on work, life, family and the dog. I may continue writing here as I love to write and share but blogging is a much smaller and easier commitment for me!

So onward and upward! Thank you all for sharing in my YouTube experiment. Now I just need to organize a little more.

PS – I’m back — My YouTube story continues (I’m back part-time)

I don’t need to go to B & BW’s for at least a year! : )

Join Me On YouTube!

Greetings!

I rarely do these types of blog posts but I wanted to put this out there! I started Vlogging in February of last year and I now have 154 videos. I really enjoy sharing my hauls and boxes via video and I hope you do too.

However YouTube has new requirements for being monetized. You need 4000 watch hours (which I have) and 1,000 subscribers (which I almost have). I really want to stay monetized because the money I make just buys more products that I can share.

Anyway if you like my channel please do give it a subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8__djLM1eA8W3FnXU7avEQ.

Thanks so much for all the support my WordPress friends have given over the years. I love blogging here! Share your Beauty channels too, I’d love to check them out : )

PS – Here’s new newest Sephora Play Unboxing for January.

I’m Giving YouTube A Try!

Today I just reread my post Why I decided to become a beauty blogger post and one sentence stood out and still stands true 10 months later. “I feel like beauty brings people together in a positive way and if I can write a review that makes even one person smile then it’s worth it.”

I still love blogging everyday and am having even more fun than I was in June. It’s a pleasure to find products to review and share my opinions and thoughts so last month I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and try my hand at a YouTube Channel and I love it! It’s more fun than I expected and another way to connect with all of you.

So if you like videos I’d be thrilled if you subscribed to my channel https://www.youtube.com/c/QueenoftheGirlGeeks.

Right now I’m doing a lot of hauls and unboxings but you if have a product you’d like me to review post it in the comments and I’ll see what I can do.

If you just like the blog posts I’m not slowing down anytime soon.

Also be sure to post your own YouTube Channel in the comments section as I’d love to see what all of you are doing too.

Thanks so much for being a part of my community.
