NEW from Maybelline! The City Mini Eyeshadow Palettes

I am really excited about the new Summer Maybelline City Mini Eyeshadow Palettes. There are 6 color combinations including and each palette has 6 shades.

  • Downtown Sunrise
  • Urban Jungle
  • Rooftop Bronzes
  • Brunch Neutrals
  • Graffiti Pops
  • Night Glimmer
  • Concrete Runway

The Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palettes are available now at Ulta.com for $9.99. I’m pretty excited about this line as the colors look so pigmented. If they are anything like the Maybelline The Graffiti Nudes Palette I may have to pick one up.

I think Downtown Sunrise has the prettiest shades but they all look pretty amazing!

Maybelline Color Tattoo by EyeStudio 24hr Cream Gel Eye Shadow Review

I recently picked up the Maybelline Color Tattoo by EyeStudio 24hr Cream Gel Eye Shadow in Painted Purple because it was on sale and I like to keep these pots in my make-up bag. I love the Inked In Pink shade that I bought last Summer so I thought I’d try the purple shade.

What’s to love?

The Maybelline Color Tattoo is a nice cream eyeshadow that looks really bright in the pot however it is a bit more transparent on my skin but I do really like it. The non-greasy formula is easy to apply on the go and the shade is one of my favorites.

The key to a good application is to sweep your eyelid and then blend out. I like to apply a primer first to get a better application. The color does stay put with no creasing although I have never tried wearing it for 24 hours.

I have also heard that these pots can dry out but the pink one I bought last year is still fine so I’m hoping I have the same luck with the purple shade.

Maybelline Volum’ Express Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara Review

I’ve been wanting to try some brown mascara so I picked up the  Maybelline Volum’ Express Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara in Glam Brown. This was another $1 find at my grocery store! How cool is that?

What’s to love?

The Maybelline Volum’ Express Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara also comes in Glam Black however I was surprised to see that the Glam Brown is a very, very dark brown. It almost looks like a light black.

Aside from the odd shade I really like this formula. It has a very low odor and the wand is amazing. It’s super fuzzy and makes application pretty easy. I had no goopiness or flaking and my eye lashes did look super volumized. I wore it with no issues for the entire day and it lasted quite well.

I do like picking up drug store mascara because I blow through it so fast. Being a germaphobe I rarely keep mascara more than 60 days. I’ve always been a fan of Maybelline mascara and this one does not disappoint.

Maybelline Color Sensational Color Elixir Review

The Maybelline Color Sensational Color Elixir  is a lip gloss that hydrates and shines.

What’s to love?

The Maybelline Color Sensational Color Elixir is a lip gloss with a nice finish and feel, I do think it has average hydrating effects. I have the Blush Essence shade and while it’s not super pigmented it does do the job. I would say this is a nice quality drug store lip gloss and it can be layered on top of lipstick for a nice shiny look.

The packaging is pretty with a clear plastic tube and good quality doe foot but the color looks much more muted in person than on the Maybelline website.

Blush Essence is a shimmery pink that looks translucent on my lips (that is a drop of water in the photo, as it was raining when I took this photo) and is about average in terms of stickiness. Most shiny lip glosses feel a little sticky to me.

Overall I would buy this one again for the quality and price.

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick Review

I really like the Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in the drug store lipstick arena. I picked up the Romantic Rose shade from Target for $5.59.

What’s to love?

First up I love the packaging of this lipstick. It’s got a transparent purple case with a silver tube and it feels like a quality product. It’s not flimsy at all.

The lipstick itself is very pretty in the Romantic Rose shade. For me it feels like a sheer cream that has good pigmentation. It was super easy to apply with no need for a liner and felt very moist on my lips. I got about 3-5 hours of wear but it wore off faster when I was eating. It has a very, very light floral scent that I found pleasant.

This is going to be a great Summer lipstick for my make-up bag. I like that it’s light enough for casual wear and touch-up while I’m out.

It’s Made in the USA too!

Maybelline FaceStudio Master Strobing Liquid Illuminating Highlighter Review

Last week I picked up the Maybelline FaceStudio Master Strobing Liquid Illuminating Highlighter as part of my Target haul and it’s a nice product for when you want a lot of illumination.

m.jpg

What’s to love?

The Maybelline FaceStudio Master Strobing Liquid Illuminating Highlighter comes in 3 shades 100 (Light/Iridescent), 200 (Medium/Nude Glow) and 300 (Deep/Gold). I have the 100 shade.

First, I have to say that a little goes a long way with this product. When I use too much I’m radiating shine. The formula is a very light pearl shade that has a pink/lavender hue.

I like using this high on my cheek bones and down my nose for a little extra illumination. It does blend very well however when I blend too much it does disappear. Once it’s dry I feel like it’s pretty much in place for me for the day. I like how it brightens my skin too.

It has a light scent that’s not floral or food. It’s more of a standard foundation smell and it’s Made in the USA.

Overall I like this product and would purchase it again.

Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer Mascara Review

I picked up the Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer Mascara as part of my Maybelline haul this week and I have to say this unusual product works wonders on my brows. It comes in 5 shades: Medium Brown, Blonde, Soft Brown, Deep Brown and Auburn. I got the Blonde shade.

m1

What’s to love?

The oval wand is pretty much like a standard mascara brush but the real magic of the product are the tiny hair-like fibers in the formula. According to Maybelline this product is a “fiber infused gel”. At first the little fibers creeped me out because I wasn’t expecting them to be so large. The theory is that the fibers make your brows fuller by adding volume rather than just color.

I applied the brow mascara by swiping my brow from the inside to the outside. I found it to be a little bit hard to apply and it felt very wet. I did apply it in my Maybelline Haul video and I’ve gotten more more skilled at putting it on with practice. Maybelline does suggest wiping the excess product off before you start and this did help with the wetness.

The main goof I made on my first application was pushing the wand too hard against my brows. It works much better if you “comb” your brows in short strokes.

I actually have pretty thick brows so I don’t need a huge amount of volume but my moms brows are very thin and she did find that it gave her more fullness.

Overall I think this is a neat product for natural brow filling however I wish the wand was a little bit better. It was slightly hard to control however I think the overall look was nice.

It had a very low odor for me and is Made in the USA.

Target Maybelline Haul

I went to Target today and ended up with a nice Maybelline Haul. I got 4 new products and 2 that I’ve used before. I am a huge fan of Maybelline and found some good stuff. Here’s what’s in my haul!

m.jpg

Maybelline Lash Sensational – This mascara has grown on me over the last 6 months. It’s a great daily wear for me. Price: $5.99

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Powder Review – I really liked this powder on my combination skin. It’s smooth and pretty. Price: $5.99

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Romantic Rose – This pretty pink lipstick felt smooth and creamy and looked very nice. It also has no scent which I love. Price: $4.29

Maybelline Brow Precise Eyebrow Perfecting Highlighter – This is my favorite product from todays haul. It’s a super creamy brow highlighter that made my eyes pop. $6.99

Maybelline Face Studio Master Strobing Liquid – Wow! This product is so pretty and luminous. I got the 100 Light/Iridescent shade and it’s gorgeous. Price: $7.99

Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer – This is the most unusually product of the bunch. It’s a liquid brow mascara that feels wet upon application. It did make my brows look amazing too. Price: $8.99

Target had a deal today that if you bought 4 Maybelline products you got a $5 gift card and I had coupons and Cart Wheel so I got a great deal too. Once I use these products for a few weeks I’ll do a more in depth review.

I did a YouTube reveal too so be sure to check it out!

Maybelline Baby Lips Glow Balm Review

I am a huge fan of Maybelline Baby Lips so when I saw this new Baby Lips Glow Balm I was all over it! This pink lip balm is supposed to adapt to your lips to create a personal pink shade.

bl.jpg

What’s to love?

The new Baby Lips Glow Balm looks like the standard Baby Lips packaging only in pink and silver. The color of the product is an opaque pink that smells like vanilla sugar and is very nice.

I found the hydration to be really good and it felt nice and light weight on my lips, I didn’t think it was sticky at all. It feels very buttery and soft.

As for the color? It turned my lips a nice light pink  with a hit of mauve. It also gave me a semi-gloss finish and I thought it looked really nice. I would definitely wear Baby Lips Glow Balm for Winter dryness and a hint of color. I think this is a great product.

One interesting note is that the back of the package says “For Adult Use Only” and I’m not sure what that means. My guess is that they want people to know it’s not for babies being that it’s called “Baby Lips”. Go figure.

Maybelline Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer Review

I wanted to add another concealer to my stash so I picked up the new Maybelline Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer in fair and I’m glad I did.

dc.jpg

What’s to love?

When you’re over 40 (like me) concealer is your best friend and I’m always on the search for new ones.

The Maybelline Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer is right up my alley. I tend to migrate toward the drug store concealers because of price and quality. While concealer is necessary (kind of like ceiling paint) it’s not super sexy to me. I mean I’d rather spend more more on a nice palette than something that goes under my make-up!

Luckily Maybelline hit a home run for me with this product. It’s a nice creamy stick that’s not too hard or too soft and it blends really well, I just use my finger. It also has a nice luminous reflective quality that brightens my eyes up.

I love the scent too, it smells a bit like crayons. I haven’t had any creasing and I love that I can stash one of these in my purse. This one is a keeper!
