Clinique Kisses Long Last Soft Matte Crimson Lipstick Review

I got an e-mail this morning from Ulta to come to the Clinique kiosk for a freeΒ Kisses Long Last Soft Matte Crimson Lipstick so I was all over that! I’ve gotten some really nice free products from Ulta this year. I’m also a sucker for collectable lipstick cases and this one is adorable, it’s got lips and sayings all over it.

What’s to love?

Apparently the Clinique Kisses line came out last Fall as part of a 5 piece set. beatfacefriday wrote a great review here.

This is a true matte lipstick and for some reason I have a hard time getting mattes right on my lips. I needed to keep applying to fill in my whole lip area but the finished product but I think it looks nice although I might add some clear lip gloss to give it some shine. I’m still not totally on board the matte train.

The one interesting thing about this lipstick was that it had a little bit of white film on the surface, Ulta said it was normal so I did some research and found out that it’s the oil coming to the surface from improper storage. I’m thinking it’s the same thing that happens to chocolate when you heat and cool it.

Overall I’m thrilled to get a new color for my collection. This one is smooth and scent free which is nice.
