The Urban Decay Afterdark Eyeshadow Palette is currently on sale for $39 and I actually got my for an additional 30% off which was nice.
Afterdark is a 10 color set of jewel-toned eye shadows. Seven of the shades are new and three are cult favorites. They are shade-shifting duotones and metallized shimmers which I love.
What’s to love?
The iridescent metallic purple case is really nice but does leave finger prints. The mirror is high quality and the case is easy to open.
Inside you get:
- Alter – yellow
- Scene – orange
- Supersonic – rust
- Sinful – bronze with a hint of gold
- Off Duty – brown
- Druggie – purple
- Backfire – purple/mauve
- Lounge – greenish teal
- Fringe – teal
- Paralyzed – blue
The shades are very pigmented and almost feel like cremes. They are very velvety powders. Alter is the lightest of the bunch and not as pigmented but the rest are nice and dark.
I’m 47 years old and a huge fan of the metallic shades. I find that they actually make my eyes look younger than the matte shades. My favorite colors in this palette are Sinful, Off Duty, Druggie and Backfire. I do have a hard time wearing blue shades with my green eyes but I use them as eyeliners and accents.
I did get all-day wear from the Druggie shade and it looked great after a day of work.
In comparing this the Heavy Metals Palette I find these shades to be more of the shade-shifting duotones and I love both palettes.
