Happy Friday! I thought I would have a little fun tonight so I came up with 21 quirky questions about beauty and pop culture as I think the two are very much connected. It’s kind of a “get to know me” Q & A and anyone is welcome to copy my questions to play.
One – Favorite Decade?
Hand down the 80’s! I was a huge fan of Duran Duran, Adam Ant, Roxy Music and so many more. I have a hard time getting on board with new music.
Two – Favorite Lipstick?
Right now it’s the It Cosmetics Blurred Lines in Believe which is a shimmery dark pink.
Three – Last Movie?
Eye in the Sky which is about drone warfare and the last movie that Alan Rickman made.
Four – Shampoo I’m Using Right Now?
Lush Big! It makes my hair so soft… and, well BIG!

Jelly shoes. OMG I had a pearl white pair that gave me the worst blisters ever.
Seven – First Concert?
Duran Duran in 1984. There was a complete blizzard that night but a friends kind father got us there on time. We had 10th row center seats and I swear Simon LeBon flung sweat my way.
Eight – Most “Meh” Beauty Product?
I still can’t get onboard with the matte liquid lipsticks.
Nine – Heels or Flats?
Flats or low wedges, I’m 5′ 11″

Frankie Heck on The Middle. I’m kind of a cross between Frankie and Sue Heck.

GlamGlow! My face looks amazing when I use it.
Fifteen – Beauty Quirk?
I hate plucking my eyebrows, I do it but it’s not my favorite thing and waxing them? NO!
Sixteen – Travel Wish List?

Seventeen – Lush vs. Bath & Body Works?
Not a fair question! I love them both equally for different products.

Hoarders, Monsters Inside Me — both kind of creep me out.

Starting a YouTube Channel, but once I made that first video it was easy.

I love Dr. Who, old Land of the Lost, Case Histories, American Housewife, Stranger Things, Seinfeld, Fraiser, Dr. Pol…so hard to choose!

OMG John Taylor was my favorite too, I was wishing he was the one who flung the sweat! That was a crazy night, a friend actually got one of the towels that Simon threw into the audience. Oh to be 14 again!

Really?? I didn’t know that. Too sexy I’m guessing. Very tame by today’s standards for sure.

Well the original version had nudity in it. They had to go and re-edit and reshoot some parts to get past the censors. So there are two versions of that video. The “Night Version” is the one that caused a commotion and got banned.
That’s right! I forgot about that.

This is sooooooo great. My first concert was in 1984 I think too and it was Cheap Trick. Sorry to hear your jellies gave you a blister. Ouch. I love the 80’s too. Great fashion and music!

It was my very first concert!! I absolutely loved it and was hooked. I’ve been to around 70 concerts.

You’re a Duranie? Me too! Seen them 13 times (1st time in 87 & most recently last year). I’ve met/talked to them all except Andy. John is still my fave. Boy the stories I could tell you. 😂

And… Roxy Music! Yes girl! I saw them in 2001. Amazing show. Wanted to see Bryan Ferry when he came here a couple months ago but it didn’t work out. 😕

DD is currently on a tour break but they’re starting up again this summer. I wish they’d just get to work on a new album as they’ve been touring for Paper Gods for almost 2 years now.
Me too! I actually got to interview Lori Majewski a few years ago when she released Mad World https://queenofthegirlgeeks.com/2015/11/11/an-interview-with-lori-majewski-mad-world-an-oral-history-of-new-wave-artists-and-songs-that-defined-the-1980s/ Lots’s of good DD stories in her book.
Lori. I remember her from a loooong time ago. Like before she worked for any magazines or her book. I knew her from either the old DDLives board on AOL or the old Tiger-List mailing list. Or maybe the Lizard King message boards.
That is too funny! She is the ultimate Duranie!
Oh I don’t know about that. I know of some Duranies who have taken it to really crazy heights. DurAndy is one (he’s a totally freak), then there’s Ramona, who is/was obsessed with John in a really bizarre way (and when she finally met him, he did what he could to avoid her because he heard about her crazy). Actually there are a LOT of the crazy ones out there. And I got stories I could tell about them too. 😂
